2022 Retrospective

2022 hasn’t been a kind year to the world.

It was better for Australia in my opinion, but not for the world. Even that, Australia is not immune from all devastating blows offered by the year.

However, we cannot blame the year for what it is.

2022 can only be seen as a year when all the decisions made by mankind materialised into one hotpot of poison that continues to cause damage around the world.

The war in Ukraine was a cumulation of tolerance of Putin by the world, hoping to sing a song of respect in disguise of appeasement. The once heartland of democracy called the United States of America is being overrun by anti-democratic Wormtongues disguised as fighter for democracy, allowing Putin to invade Ukraine because according to these Wormtongues, Putin will never invade Ukraine. Even after the invasion, they sang praise for Putin to reclaim the land as part of Russia, against what the historical facts of the world told us.

2022 is also a year where facts continue to battle against liars around the world to try to continue their existence as facts. Gaslighting from fossil fuel groups and fossil fuel groups controlled politicians continued. But then I think maybe they do need all that gas and coal to continue to gaslight people, as gaslights, run on gas. Mixing up the basic difference between climate and weather, or weather caused by climate change, continued to be one of the most effective weapons against the major public who wanted to rein in climate change. As parts of the world went under water, got burned into crisp and frozen beyond a Let It Go level, hard core puppets of the fossil fuel industry continued to propagate against climate change and blame everyone but themselves for the devastation around the world.

The reining in of personal freedom continues around the world, albeit some of them were done by tyranny supporting minions in the disguise of fighting for respect and freedom. The repeal of abortion rights and the threatening of marriage equality from those so-called God-loving Christians raged across the once Land of Freedom. Christianity, once touted itself as the freedom fighter and oppressed in the Bible, has now become the symbol of oppression and restriction, while continue to try to play victim to the so-called cancel culture, while, actively trying to cancel out opposing voices via various means. This Force is now with the Dark Side in many parts of the world.

Australia was a bit luckier, not in the climate change sense, as parts of the country is still facing a wall of flood water up to 10.7 meters high at the moment, after the land having been burnt to crisp two years ago. However, the political epiphany among Australians had, for the time being, fought back the tide of tyrants propagated by the Liberal and National Coalition. For those who are confused, the Liberals are not the liberal ones, but the one liberally trying to apply control to everyone and anyone but themselves, and the Nationals are not nationally represented but banded together by a number of upper middle-class bogans claiming to represent rural Australia. They attack everyone under the name of God and they condemn everyone according to the brief of whoever gave them the most political donations and media coverage. The so-called Teal Wave had claimed and drowned the political careers of a number of these LNP politicians, and the increase representation of the Greens and the Independents have put the Government sort of back into the hands of common Australians. For this I give the kudos to the less complicated compulsory voting system in Australia, which forced us to have a voice, even when some don’t know that their voices count. There were attempts before the May Election to change the voting system to favour the LNP, but I am glad that the coup failed. The notion of ‘If we can’t win the election, we limit who can vote’ is detrimental to democracy, as we can see what’s happening in the United States. And there are still a lot at stake for the Australian democracy when a huge chunk of the media in Australia are still being controlled by a few, who thought they were the chosen few by God. For me, if you do believe in God, just read about the Four Horsemen in the Book of Revelation.

I might sound all doom and gloom, but I have always been the oxymoronic optimistic pessimist.

Maybe I need to look at the bright side more, but I do believe it is the time for everyone to distinguish a zapper light from a guiding light. You don’t be the moth that flies into the fire, right?
