A lot of time people think you can’t eat healthy when you are at a food court or you just want to grab something really quick on the go. I was one of them.
That’s why I was so glad to have ‘discovered’ Crafty Cuts at the Bondi Junction Westfield Food Court.
Bondi Junction Westfield used to have two food courts – one I used to call them commoners food court and the other upper-class food court. They sell completely different things and at different prices. For me I just stuck to the commoners one because I couldn’t justify myself paying extraordinary amount for food court food. This was rectified when they changed the commoners food court to a shop and re-packaged the upper class food court into, well, just a food court.
This is when Crafty Cuts moved in.
At first, I had no idea what they are selling. But the idea of getting something healthy and quick was enticing so I gave it a go.
To simplify my understanding of their menu, basically they sell two types of food – things in a bowl and things enveloped by bread.
My personal preference are things in a bowl. They serve what they called Protein Bowls – basically meat with brown rice and salad. You can choose between a single or having two serves of different meat. The price will adjust. My favourites are both of the roast chicken and Cajun chicken. On top of that pulled pork is also my regular choice. When it comes to the salad, I usually go for the green beans ones that come with well, green beans, cherry tomatoes and kale. I usually am not a great fan of kale, but they just managed to make it so much more enjoyable then when I tried them in the past. Also, you can choose salad dressing of your own. My favourite is usually the Avocado Dressing as it comes with both avocado and mustard – the best of two worlds for me. If you are buying take away, the sauce is always provided in a separate container to avoid your salad getting too soggy. As for the meat, they were always made just right – tender, juicy and flavoursome. A lot of time meat in food court were over cooked to avoid any incident, but being able to do the meat in just the right way in this environment for me is quite impressive. Although the bowl doesn’t look that big, but they are surprisingly filling. Further, you can also get bread slices from them as part of the bowl combo but I usually skipped that.
As for the sandwiches, I have only tried the Reuben Sandwich from them. It was still very enjoyable with the swiss cheese and mustard together with nicely done briskets. However, as I said before, since I am not a huge fan of bread, so I didn’t try many of the other selections.
You can also buy an assorted selection of drinks from them, but for me they are just mostly food court drinks with fancier names.
The counter layout of Crafty Cuts is clean and bright, which I do think gives you stronger confidence of their food quality and hygiene. The staff are always friendly and cheerful, which I think does add a bit of welcoming energy and vibe while dining there.
As it is in the food court, there is not much of deco I can talk about, but right opposite to the counter are some long benches with charging sockets on them. So, I find it quite convenient to just take your food and sit over there, and in case I need to charge my devices, I can charge them while eating.
I personally will highly recommend Crafty Cuts when you are looking for something healthy and quick, or even on the go. You can find out more about Crafty Cuts here.
