When The Irresponsible Calls For Personal Responsibilities

Who could have seen this coming? Within a space of two weeks, infection rate and hospitalisation rate shot up across NSW, with both the Prime Minister and the Premier, both from the same political faction, resisting call from medical experts to act until the last minute.

2021 is one hell of a rollercoaster year. And as with all amusement parks, the rollercoasters are man-made, just not many on the ride were amused.

Earlier in the year, when that beloved limo driver who refused to wear masks started his infection spree in Bondi Junction, the then Premier Gladys Berejiklian, resisted call for immediate snap lock down and other measures to contain the spread. The end result? We were in full lock down from June to November, as we see the steady climb of cases, hospitalisation and deaths. NSW led and broke the infection cases to 4 digits, and you thought this State Liberal government would be proud enough of its accomplishment.

Apparently not.

When Gladys resigned because of her involvement in a potential corruption case, another other religious White man from the Liberal Party took over. He immediately acted. Not on managing the pandemic in the State, but to dismantle anything Dr Kerry Chant had fought for to protect the people of NSW. For him, his business friends are of utmost importance. If they don’t have business, then there will be no donation money for his party. Fair enough call.

Then came Omnicron.

When cases first started, medical advice was to slow down easing of restrictions, as this would help to contain the spread. But being the strong White man, and trying to prove a point of difference against two other women, Gladys and Kerry, Dominic Perrottet, refuses to parrot the ladies’ approach. At a daily infection of 1,360 cases, he completely eased all restrictions – no mask mandate, no check in required for tracking, and rejoice, all unvaccinated can go anywhere they wanted. All medical bodies warned against this, but being a God loving man of faith, Dominic shut down all opposition voices. All we can do as taxpayers in NSW is to hope that God Save the State.

Prayers were not heard.

The situation deteriorated quickly.

At the time of writing, NSW has over 6,000 cases.

Right before the Christmas, Scott Morrison, aka #ScottyDoesNothing, determined that health issues are State’s business, while continued to bully non-Liberal States to open up. See the irony there?

At one of the interviews right before Christmas, Scott Morrison further reiterated that it is a personal responsibility to wear masks. While wearing masks is good but it is up to individuals to decide. He compared mask wearing to sunscreen using, only not realising that skin cancer is not contagious.

During the year the Scott Morrison government turned his champion propaganda of a vaccine rollout into a full scale vaccine stroll out that most people cannot get vaccinated, because he turned down earlier offers for extra vaccine doses to save money during a pandemic, then throw the GPs and Pharmacists under the bus for not being able to provide the service, despite there were no doses to provide any service. Then continued his attack against the Labor States while not helping with the solution when they are trying to contain the virus with lockdowns; to providing the majority of last-minute second-hand doses to NSW, a Liberal State, after the NSW Government failed, because of bad decision, to contain the virus, while praising the NSW Liberal Government ‘took the necessary steps to lockdown’. And then, now comparing mask wearing to apply sunscreen and people should take personal responsibilities of their own health.

The past year showed that the hypocrisy of Scott Morrison has no bounds.

For him everything is a marketing campaign. Whether anything was followed through he doesn’t care. When things went wrong, just throw someone else under the bus. For Scott Morrison, be it politicians of the opposition, or his ministers, usually females, of his own party, the medical experts, or even the people of Australia, as long as Scott Morrison can make himself look good, anyone else can go under the bus.

For me the most ironic and hypocritical of all is that this historically irresponsible Scott Morrison government is asking general Australians to be personally responsible, when it was these Liberal governments’ irresponsibility that brought us to this situation.

People are unhappy, but are they unhappy enough to vote these irresponsible politicians out of the office amidst the scare marketing campaign they are running? That is something yet to be seen in 2022.

As for 2021, it was a rollercoaster ride that most people did not want to be part of.
